Arizona Board Of Nursing
can medical assistants preform all injections including botox in arizona?
I am a licensed esthetician and am furthering my career and want to do injections (all fillers/botox, etc) I live in arizona and am wondering if I can just go through the medical assistant program and then take a class on botox instead of taking the longer route and getting my LPN. I am curious to know if I can even administer the injections as a MA. I have contacted the board of nursing about 3 times and they haven’t called me back regarding the scope of practice laws. I wouldn’t want to take the LPN program courses and find out later I could have just gotten my MA certificate along with a botox class. Any help????
In Maryland & California, MAs can not do botox or fillers. Being familiar with MA scope of practice & the fact they are unlicensed, I suspect MAs are not allowed to do botox & fillers.
