Arizona Des Unemployment
Was supposed to transition from tier 4 to extended benefits during the time that congress didn’t pass funding.?
As of tomorrow I’ll have gone for 8 weeks without an unemployment benefit payment, due to the issues of the government renewing funding. The first four weeks I would have finished tier 4 and the second four weeks would have been on the final stage of unemployment which is Extended Benefits.
I know that I’ll get a retroactive check for the four weeks of tier 4, but does anyone know if the Extended Benefits will be part of that? Im hoping that due to the amount of time we have gone without payment that they might automatically start me on EB, instead of the normal enrolling phase.
I know that some states will do this but I’m not sure about mine – Arizona.
Ive scoured google and looked at the AZ DES website. Maybe some of you have already called DES wondering the same thing and have some more info? Thanks.
Per the AZ UI website:
“Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) and State Extended Benefit (EB) claims cannot be reactivated over the internet; please call the AZ Unemployment Insurance Call Center.”
However, they also state — at the top of the page: ” The U.S. Congress has passed and the President has signed legislation that will extend the Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) and Extended Benefit (EB) programs. As soon as DES receives information on when the new law will be effective, we will begin working on restarting these programs. Continue to file your weekly claims.
This is the only information the UI Call Centers have about this subject. If you have other issues concerning your claim, please contact the Call Centers. We will continue to update this website as we receive additional information.”
So, what do you do? CALL them. If they don’t want to give you sufficient information on their website, they are begging for phone calls.
