Bassist returns to site of his defining triumph
The last time Artem Chirkov was in Denton, he was swarmed by admirers in the lobby at the Murchison Performing Arts Center. Musicians young and old posed for photographs with the young Russian , who had just taken the top prize at the first International Double Bass Solo Competition, which has been called the Van Cliburn competition of the double bass world.
