University Of Arizona Tempe
Need someone who knows Arizona cities VERY well?
Would like to know a place that would be 1/2 way tit for tat between Tempe (University and the 101) and Sun City (99th Ave and Union Hills). Any ideas or suggestions of a city, pair of cross streets or place to hang out? We’re young adults in our 20′s

I know it’s a big stretch, but I had to move home with my dad this year and all my friends live in Phoenix or Tempe. We always argue about what’s half way and what not because no one wants to drive COMPLETELY to Sun City or COMPLETELY to Tempe from where they are lol

I think your most central point would at Desert Ridge. It is an outdoor mall with a movie theatres and mostly restaurant bars. They usually also have live music. It is very similar to Tempe Marketplace (which you may know if you live in Tempe). Desert Ridge is located at the cross of the 101 and 51 in North Phoenix.
Arrowhead Towne Center (aka Mall) and Westgate City Center (this is where the Cardinals Stadium is) are both good meeting points, but both of these are much closer to the Sun City area. Arrowhead is about 75th Ave. and Bell Rd (just south of the northern rim of the 101). Westgate is is at about the 101 (west side of the loop – circa 91st ave) and Glendale Ave. Arrowhead is your typical mall with lots of surrounding stores, movie theatres and restaurants. Westgate is basically a bar district – your late night bar-hopping scene.
Old Town (south Scottsdale) and North Scottsdale are both good bar scenes. Those areas have more of the “club” feels. Much more of the upscale bars. These locations are both located much closer to to Tempe. Old Town had both bars where you can bar hop and Scottsdale Fashion Square, the mall.
Finally…. downtown has a decent bar scene. I’m not has familiar with the bars downtown b/c I’ have never personally been a huge fan, but I have plenty of friends who LOVE to bar hop in the area. It is also very nice with the lightrail there now. That’s probably pretty central between Tempe and Sun City…just off the 10 around central ave. There is also Arizona Center in that same area (7th ave, south of the 10, i believe). It has a move theare, coffee shop, restaurants.
