Uss Arizona Museum Pearl Harbor

I’m Going to Hawaii on the 11th. Anything You Suggest for Me to Do on Oahu? =∂?
One thing we have planned (as a group) is going hiking on Diamond Head. I rilly want to go to Pearl Harbor to see the USS Arizona museum, but the rest of the group have all been there. And someone suggested I go to Kauai because it’s beautiful there. But the group won’t go there, probably, only the Big Island of Hawaii. Should I try going alone to Kauai; or where should I go after they leave? I will have one day alone as they leave on Sunday and I come back the next day.
Correction: The group wants to hang out only in Oahu, not the Big Island.
I would recommend the following activities on Oahu.
- Arizona Memorial
- Pearl Harbor
- Chinatown (downtown)
- Bishop Museum (downtown)
- Hiking – you can find tons of great hikes online – to swimming holes, waterfalls, etc. Beautiful. Watch out for leptosyrosis.
- Chinaman’s Hat
- Kayak to Moku Islands (Windward side)
- Waimea beach (watch locals jump off rock – and maybe dare to yourself)(North Shore)
- Shave Ice at Matsimoto’s Shave Ice (North Shore)
- Haleiwa (North Shore)
- Polynesia Culture Center (skip luau and show – the park is fabulous for just $30)(North Shore-ish)
Stay away from Waikiki. There are so many tourists there and it is definitely not the *real* Hawaii. The best parts of Hawaii are free – beaches and nature.
You can get cheap tickets to the neighbor islands from iflygo.com. About $40 each way – very cheap. I have been to the Big Island and it is great. Kauai is supposed to be beautiful as well. You can do one-day trips to either of these islands with a travel agent for about $150-300.
